Find me in Real Life...

There are four conventions I do yearly; I can't absolutely promise I'll be at each of them, but chances are pretty good that you'll find my fantasy artwork hanging in the show and me sitting at a table in the dealers' room, either by myself or with my good friend Mia, who owns and creates Elemental Jewels. I'm starting to do more panels, too.

If you're looking for a specific piece of art, make sure to email me (thylacine.yawn@gmail.com) ahead of time; I don't always bring everything, especially as my portfolio grows. (And yes, I often commute, but no, you don't want to trust that my huband is going to be able to dig a specific piece out of my studio when he comes home to let the dog out.)

If you want to just drop by the table and say 'hi', that's good, too. I love talking to people about tarot, runes, m/m romance... or the latest Doctor Who episode.

this year, I'll be going to Raleigh, North Carolina for Animazement where I'll be manning (womaning?) the Dreamspinner Press table in the dealer's room, along with Shira Anthony. We'll be doing a panel discussion on making the transition from Fanfiction author to published author, signing books, and hanging out!

Hello and Welcome

My name is Helen Pattskyn--I also write and produce art under the name H.B. Pattskyn.

I am a Michigan-born gay romance author and fantasy artist; my spiritual practices are a blend of Wicca and Shamanism. I read tarot and runes, and I'm starting to learn palmistry.

Like most artistic types, I've been writing and painting all my life, but a few years ago, I decided to take the plunge and start moving toward being a professional author and artist. That means that, while I have a day job to make ends meet, a fair amount of my income comes from my writing and artwork (which should tell you how much money I make at my day job!)

I have written in other genres, but romance, particularly gay romance, leaves me feeling the most satisified. Always a bit of a hopeless romantic myself, I love stories where two (or sometimes three) people meet and feel that instant, irrestable attraction to one another, overcome life's obsticales, and end up living happily ever after. In my world, romance *must* end in Happily Ever After.

I started showing my fantasy artwork at local science fiction conventions back in the early 1990's--then I took a very long hiatus from painting. I came back to it with a vengence in 2008.

I work in watercolor, pen and ink, prisma pencil, and mixed media. After a nearly fifteen year hiatus, am very glad to be back showing my artwork to the public again.
